Portal, catalogue and membership platform development

We build product and service catalogues, classifieds and comparison portals, and membership and client platforms – with user accounts, roles, data import, payments and APIs. Complex platforms are built on Laravel; simpler catalogues on WordPress or Joomla. We can add AI search by meaning or listing checks to your portal. A product catalogue without a basket costs from €799; portals are priced after we assess the features.

A good fit if

  • You have many products or services whose price depends on quantity or conditions, so you need an enquiry per product rather than a basket.
  • You are planning a classifieds, catalogue or comparison portal where users or companies upload the content themselves.
  • You need a membership or client platform: accounts, different permissions, documents or paid services.
  • Data should update automatically from supplier files, your accounting software or other systems’ APIs.
  • Your portal already runs, but search and moderation take too much time and you want to add AI.

Not the best fit if

  • You have only a few products and need to sell them straight away with online payment. An online store is the better fit.
  • The business model is not clear yet: who uploads content, what is paid for, who moderates. Work this out first – all the logic depends on it.
  • You only need an internal system for staff with no public side. A CRM or accounting tool is the better fit.

We have been programming since 1998; on Laravel we built, for example, the BestEV4me electric vehicle catalogue. In AI, we have hands-on experience with smart search over a vector database and data collection and publishing tools (parsers); we do not name clients of AI projects.

Included

What you get

Data model and roles

We define the objects on the portal (products, listings, companies, members), who creates, approves and sees them. This underpins search, permissions and payments.

Accounts and administration

Registration, login, password recovery and different permissions for users, moderators and administrators.

Search and filters

Categories, filters by attribute and sorting; filters are priced by type and number.

Import and integrations

Data from Excel, CSV, XML or supplier APIs, payments for services and export to your accounting software or CRM.

AI features

Search by meaning, draft descriptions and flagging of suspicious listings. A moderator makes the decision on each listing.

Code, hosting and warranty

We hand over the source code and database; hosting on our server, a separate VPS or your own server. Programming errors are fixed free of charge for 12 months.

Price

How much does portal or catalogue development cost?

A product or service catalogue without a basket costs from €799; this usually covers categories, product pages, search and an enquiry form. Filters and Excel import are priced separately. For classifieds, comparison or membership portals we quote after assessing the features – it often makes sense to launch a first version and add the rest in stages.

Get a quote

Prices include all taxes – no VAT is charged (we are not VAT-registered). The final price depends on the project: we put it and the timeline in the contract before work starts.

What the price depends on

  • How many user types and permissions are needed: visitors, members, companies, moderators.
  • Which filters and search are required.
  • Where data is imported from and how often.
  • Whether the portal offers paid services and which payment methods.
  • How many languages and whether AI features are needed.
  • Whether data is migrated from an old system.

Additional costs

  • A separate server for a Laravel platform – from €29/month; hosting for simple catalogues – from €80/year.
  • Payment integration – from €150.
  • Maintenance and further development – from €29/month or €30/hour.

Timeline

How long does portal development take?

A product catalogue without a basket takes 1–2 weeks from the deposit and receipt of content; filters and import extend this. A portal usually takes 2–6 weeks; we state the exact timeline after assessing the features: a first version with core features can launch earlier, with the rest added in stages.

Process

How we work

  1. Free assessment1–2 working days

We discuss the portal idea, users and revenue model, and suggest which features belong in the first version.

  2. Specification and price1–3 working days

We describe the data model, roles and screens. Price and timeline go into the contract; work starts after the 50% deposit.

  3. Programming in stagesdepends on scope

We develop in a test environment and show working parts so you can try them before launch.

  4. Data and integrationsdepends on scope

We import data, connect payments and other systems, and test with real data.

  5. Launch and warranty12 months

We launch the portal, walk you through administration and hand over the code. Errors are fixed free of charge for 12 months.

Examples

Typical scenarios

These examples show how this works in practice. They are not specific client cases.

Supplier catalogue with automatic import

Situation
For example, a building materials supplier has thousands of products whose prices and stock change weekly, and the price depends on quantity.
Solution
A catalogue without a basket, with filters and an enquiry per product; products and stock are imported from the supplier file on a schedule.
Outcome
An up-to-date catalogue without manual work and enquiries with exact product codes.

Niche classifieds portal

Situation
For example, an association wants members to post services or equipment themselves, with an administrator only reviewing listings.
Solution
A Laravel portal with member accounts, listing moderation and paid promotion. AI flags potentially unsuitable listings, and a moderator decides.
Outcome
A portal filled by members themselves and less manual moderation.

Comparison platform with search by meaning

Situation
For example, a comparison platform lists hundreds of models with lots of technical data, while visitors search for things like “good for families, long trips”.
Solution
Alongside the filters we add AI search that understands the question and suggests suitable models with links to their pages.
Outcome
A search that answers visitors’ questions instead of just filtering.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is a product catalogue different from an online store?

A catalogue has no basket or payment: the buyer chooses a product and sends an enquiry, and you confirm the price and terms separately. This suits cases where price depends on quantity, installation or the customer. A catalogue costs from €799; an online store from €999.

Why do you use Laravel for portals?

When a portal has many user types, permissions, payments and data relationships, Laravel lets us describe that logic clearly and maintain it. For simple catalogues and news portals, WordPress or Joomla are often enough and let you manage content yourself.

Can you import products from a supplier file?

Yes. We import from Excel, CSV or XML files and supplier APIs, and if the data changes regularly we set up a scheduled automatic import. Import is priced separately – it is not included in the catalogue price because every supplier file is structured differently.

How can a classifieds portal make money?

The most common ways are paid listing promotion, listing packages for businesses, membership fees or advertising space. A payment integration costs from €150. It is worth agreeing the business model before programming, as account and payment logic depends on it.

Who is responsible for user-posted listings?

The portal owner is responsible for the rules and their enforcement, so we build in moderation, a report button and user blocking. AI can flag suspicious listings, but a moderator makes the decision. We recommend having the rules and privacy policy reviewed by a lawyer.

Where will the portal be hosted, and will we own the code?

Laravel platforms are hosted on a separate server (from €29/month) or on your own server. Once paid in full, we hand over the source code and database, so any developer can continue building the portal.
