Website translation and multilingual websites
Website translation means carrying your texts, menus, forms and search titles over into another language, so that visitors who speak it understand your website and Google shows it in that language. Saitai.lt translates into Lithuanian, English, Russian and other languages, and also writes new copy in them: AI produces the first draft, and we edit it so that it reads naturally. If needed, we also build the language versions on your website. We usually translate the texts of a website of up to 10 pages into one language in 3–5 working days; each extra website language adds 15% to the project price if you supply the translations, or about 20% if we translate.
In short
- Price
- each extra website language adds 15% to the project price if you supply the translations, or about 20% if we translate; other texts are quoted after we review them; no VAT is added
- Languages
- Lithuanian, English, Russian and others – we agree the languages before we start
- How we translate
- we translate with the help of AI and edit the text so that it reads naturally; we check terms, prices and names against your own materials
- What gets translated
- pages, menus, buttons, forms and their messages, page titles and search descriptions, image descriptions (alt text)
- Language versions
- language switcher, separate URLs for each language, hreflang tags – in WordPress, Joomla, WooCommerce or a custom system
- Experience
- websites and online stores for clients abroad and in other languages: Norway, Ireland, Estonia, Cyprus, the UAE, the UK and more
- Where we work
- remotely, all over Lithuania; meetings in Vilnius by appointment, arranged by phone
Who it’s for
- You sell or provide services abroad, but your website is only in Lithuanian.
- The English version of your website was translated word for word: it has mistakes, and Lithuanian words are still left in the menus or forms.
- Your online store needs its products, categories, filters and order emails translated.
- Your website has several languages, but Google abroad shows the Lithuanian version or doesn't show the other language pages at all.
- Your customers in Lithuania speak Russian or English, so your key services need to be described in their language too.
- A partner abroad needs a presentation, catalogue or sales proposal translated.
When it’s not the right fit
- You need an official translation of documents with a translator's signature or notarisation. We don't provide these – please contact a translation agency.
- You are translating contracts, terms and conditions or medical instructions, where a mistake has legal or health consequences. Such a translation must be checked by a specialist in that field; we can then upload it to your website.
- You expect the work of a native-speaker translator. We translate with the help of AI and edit the text, but we don't provide native-speaker translation services. We recommend showing your most important texts, such as the home page, to a native-speaking colleague or partner.
Included
What you get
The whole website translated
We translate not only the page texts but also the menus, buttons, forms, error messages, footer and cookie banner, so that visitors from abroad don't come across leftover Lithuanian.
AI translation and editing
AI prepares the first draft of the translation, and we edit it: we fix phrases that sound unnatural, make terms consistent and check numbers, prices, dates and names.
Glossary of terms
Before translating, we draw up a glossary of the terms and product names in your field, so that the same thing has the same name across the whole website and is translated the same way next time.
SEO for every language
For each language, we prepare page titles, meta descriptions, URLs and image descriptions, and we check the key terms in search in the target language – people abroad often search with different words from the ones a literal translation would suggest.
Language versions on your website
We set up a language switcher, separate URLs for each language (e.g. /en/), hreflang tags and an XML sitemap, so that Google shows visitors the version in the right language.
Online store translation
Products, categories, filters, the basket, delivery and payment terms, and order emails. When there are many products, we export the descriptions, translate them and import them back, rather than editing each product by hand.
Documents and presentations
We translate sales proposals, presentations and catalogues; if needed, we also lay out the translated publication, as text in another language often runs longer or shorter.
Upload and checks
We upload the translated texts to your website and check that the forms work, that visitors receive emails in their own language, and that the language switcher leads to the translation of the same page rather than to the home page.
Price
How much does website translation cost?
Price
On request
We quote a price for translating texts once we have assessed the volume and the language – within 1 working day of your enquiry. When we build a new website, each extra language adds 15% to the project price if you supply the translated texts, or about 20% if we translate them (with the help of AI and editing); the Premium website package already includes two languages. Adding a language version to an existing website is quoted separately.
Prices include all taxes – no VAT is added (we are not VAT-registered). The final price depends on the volume: we confirm it and the timeline before work starts.
What the price depends on
- Volume of text: the number of pages and products, and whether descriptions repeat.
- Number of languages and the direction: we most often translate into English or Russian; less common languages are quoted separately.
- Subject area: technical, medical or legal texts need more checking.
- Whether the texts need to be adapted for search in the target country, or a translation is enough.
- Whether the language versions need to be built technically, and which system your website runs on: Joomla, WordPress, WooCommerce or a custom one.
- Deadline: urgent jobs are scheduled separately.
Additional costs
- Licence for a multilingual plugin – if your website's system needs a paid plugin; you pay the developer's price. Joomla supports language versions without extra licences.
- Checking legal or medical texts – at the rates of a specialist in that field or a translation agency.
- Uploading texts and tidying up pages on the website – €30 per hour, or together with website development or a redesign.
- SEO work for a foreign market after translation – under an SEO plan.
Timeline
How long does it take to translate a website?
We usually translate the texts of a small website of up to 10 pages into one language in 3–5 working days, or in 1–2 weeks if we also build the language version and upload the texts. For larger websites and online stores, we give the timeline together with the price, as it depends on the number of pages and products.
| Scope | What we do | Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 10 pages, one language | translating and editing the texts, page titles and search descriptions | usually 3–5 working days |
| New language version of an existing website | translation, language switcher, URLs, hreflang tags, upload | usually 1–2 weeks |
| Online store | products, categories, filters, order emails | depends on the number of products |
| Documents and presentations | translation; layout if needed | depends on the volume |

- A consistent English version with no leftover Lithuanian.
