Generative engine optimisation: getting your website ready for AI search

We prepare your website for AI search: we open it up to AI crawlers, add structured data (schema.org) and an llms.txt file, and restructure your key pages so that ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI Overviews can find, understand and cite them. This is generative engine optimisation (GEO). Our programmers handle the technical side, so the changes are made in your site's code rather than left as a list of recommendations. We can't guarantee citations – we improve your chances and measure the change every month. Price: from €349/month.

A good fit if

  • When you ask ChatGPT or Perplexity which company in your field to choose in Lithuania, it names your competitors but not you.
  • AI answers about your company show outdated or incorrect details: address, services, prices.
  • Google shows an AI Overview above the results for informational searches, and clicks through to your site have dropped.
  • Customers choose your services or products by comparing and asking: 'how much does … cost', 'what's the difference between …', 'which should I choose …'.
  • Your site works, but its text, prices or FAQ are loaded with JavaScript or hidden in animations – and you want programmers to fix it, not just send a list of tips.

Not the best fit if

  • Your site isn't yet indexed by Google and Bing, or it has serious technical errors. AI search relies on search indexes, so the search engine optimisation groundwork has to come first.
  • You want a guarantee that ChatGPT will mention your company. Nobody can promise that: answers vary with the wording of the question, the user, their location and the time. We commit to doing the agreed work and measuring the change.
  • You expect a single llms.txt file or an 'AI plugin' to be enough. Isolated technical fixes without content and mentions on other websites won't change your visibility in AI answers.

We have hands-on experience implementing structured data, llms.txt and AI search on websites. One example is saitai.lt itself: it has an llms.txt file, full schema.org markup and machine-readable prices (our own test). We don't publish client names – our confidentiality agreements require this.

What you get

AI crawler access and indexing

In robots.txt we allow AI search crawlers (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot). We verify your site in Bing Webmaster Tools and enable IndexNow, because ChatGPT and Copilot also draw on the Bing index.

Text visible without JavaScript

We check that your main text, prices and FAQ are in the page's HTML. Some AI crawlers don't run JavaScript, so text hidden in animations stays invisible to them and counters show '0'. We make the template changes ourselves.

Structured data

We add JSON-LD markup: Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, Product, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList. The markup matches the visible text – no hidden claims meant only for robots.

llms.txt and machine-readable facts

We write a short description of your site for AI systems with links to the key pages, and present prices, timescales and terms so that people and software read them the same way. llms.txt isn't an official standard yet, but it does your site no harm.

Answer-first content

Key pages open with a 40–60-word definition, headings are phrased as customer questions, and each is followed by a direct answer. AI most often cites a self-contained passage that makes sense without the rest of the page.

Facts, figures and tables

We replace empty adjectives with facts: 'from' prices, timescales, terms, comparison tables, the date of the last update and the author. AI can check and cite information like this.

Consistent company details

We align your company name, address, phone number and business description across your website, Bing Places and Lithuanian business directories. AI compares sources, so conflicting details make it less likely your company will be mentioned.

Mentions plan

AI is more likely to recommend companies confirmed by several independent sources: directories, customer reviews, partner pages, articles. We draw up a mentions plan and help you put it into practice; we don't buy mentions on dubious websites.

AI visibility monitoring

Every month we put the same set of customer questions to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot and record whether your company is mentioned and who is cited instead. Your GA4 reports show visitors from AI assistants separately.

Price

How much does AI search optimisation cost?

AI search optimisation (GEO) costs from €349/month. The monthly work covers the technical groundwork (AI crawler access, indexing, structured data, llms.txt), restructuring your key pages on an answer-first basis, aligning your company details, a mentions plan and an AI visibility report. We do GEO together with the search engine optimisation groundwork, because AI search relies on the same indexes and the same content.

Get a quote

Prices include all taxes – no VAT is charged (we are not VAT-registered). The minimum contract term is 3 months. The final price depends on the project: we set it in the contract before work begins.

What the price depends on

  • How many competitors in your field already publish clear answers, prices and FAQ on their websites.
  • Your site's technical condition: is the text visible without JavaScript, are crawlers blocked, are pages indexed.
  • How many existing pages need rewriting on an answer-first basis and how many pages are missing.
  • Whether your company details in directories and on maps match or need correcting.
  • How many topics and questions we track each month.
  • The number of language versions.

Additional costs

  • Extra copy and new pages for customer questions – from €29/page.
  • Larger technical changes (for example, rebuilding a template so the text is visible without JavaScript) – €30/hour or under a separate quote.
  • Paid publications or directory listings – only if agreed with you in advance; you pay the publisher directly.

Timeline

How soon will you see GEO results?

The technical groundwork – crawler access, Bing verification, structured data, llms.txt – is done in the first 1–2 weeks. AI systems that search the web in real time can start citing a new page soon after it's indexed, but more stable changes usually show after 3–6 months, once content and mentions on other websites have built up.

Process

How we work

  1. Free initial review1–2 working days

We look over your site, check whether AI search crawlers can reach it and put 3–5 of your customers' questions to AI systems.

  2. Technical check and question set3–5 working days

We check indexing, code and markup, agree with you 15–20 questions customers ask before choosing a supplier, and record the baseline.

  3. Technical groundwork1–2 weeks

We set up crawler access, Bing Webmaster Tools, IndexNow, structured data and llms.txt, and change the template if text isn't visible without JavaScript.

  4. Contentmonthly

We rewrite key pages on an answer-first basis, add tables and FAQ, and write the pages that are missing.

  5. Company details and mentionsmonthly

We align your company details in directories and on maps and plan mentions on other websites.

  6. Measurement and reportmonthly

Every month we rerun the question set, review GA4 and crawler visits, and go through the report with you on a call.

Examples

Typical scenarios

These examples show how the approach works. They are not specific client cases.

AI recommends your competitors

Situation
For example, an accounting firm notices that when Perplexity is asked which accountant to choose in its city, it cites directories and two competitor websites that publish prices and FAQ.
Solution
A pricing page with a table and 'from' prices, service pages with direct answers and FAQ, company profiles in directories, Organization and Service data.
Outcome
Pages AI can cite when answering price and choice questions, and a monthly view of the change for the same questions.

Outdated details in AI answers

Situation
For example, a company moved and changed its name two years ago, but ChatGPT still gives the old address because it remains in several directories and old articles.
Solution
A list of every place the company is mentioned, corrections in directories and Bing Places, Organization data and a clear About page with the company's history.
Outcome
Consistent company details in the sources AI draws on, and less chance of wrong answers about the company.

Text AI crawlers can't see

Situation
For example, the site's text only appears after animations run, and figures load via counters. A crawler that doesn't run JavaScript sees an almost empty page and the number '0'.
Solution
Template changes: animations switched off in the main blocks, facts as plain text in the HTML, a check through a crawler's eyes and key pages restructured on an answer-first basis.
Outcome
Pages that people, Google and AI crawlers see in the same way, and facts that AI no longer distorts.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is GEO different from search engine optimisation?

Search engine optimisation aims for higher rankings and clicks in Google results, while GEO aims to get your company mentioned and cited in AI answers. The foundations are shared: indexing, content, links. But GEO puts more weight on clear answers at the top of the page, figures, structured data, consistent company details and mentions on other websites. That's why we do GEO alongside the search optimisation groundwork, not instead of it.

Can you guarantee that ChatGPT will mention our company?

No. AI answers vary with the wording of the question, the user, their location and the time, and the models are updated constantly. We commit to doing the agreed work and measuring every month what share of the question set mentions your company and which sources you're competing with.

Do we need an llms.txt file?

It's not essential, but worth having. It does no harm and is quick to prepare, but it isn't an official standard yet: the major search engines haven't confirmed they use it when choosing sources. We prepare llms.txt as part of the GEO work, but content, indexing, structured data and mentions on other websites make the biggest difference.

Should we let AI crawlers use our website content?

That's your decision. We recommend allowing search crawlers (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot) – otherwise AI can't cite your pages. Crawlers that collect data for model training (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, the Google-Extended token) can be blocked separately, according to the developers' documentation: this doesn't affect appearance in AI search answers.

How can we tell whether customers find us through AI search?

In three ways. GA4 reports show visitors from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com and copilot.microsoft.com separately. The monthly question set shows mentions even when people don't click through. The third way is to ask in your enquiry form how the customer heard about you.

Do Google AI Overviews reduce the number of visitors?

For informational searches, often yes: some people get their answer without opening a website. That's why it matters to be the source the Overview cites, and to have pages for commercial searches – price, comparison, ordering – where people still click through. At the moment Search Console doesn't report AI Overview clicks separately.

Is GEO suitable for a small local business?

Yes, but it's worth starting with the basics. For local recommendations AI often uses map and directory data, so the first priority is consistent company details everywhere and a site that is indexed. If your site lacks the search groundwork, we'll suggest search engine optimisation first – from €119/month.
