Website redesign and rebuild

A website update means fixing your existing website without building it from scratch: updating the content management system and plugins, making it mobile-friendly, improving speed and design, or moving it to a new system. Saitai.lt takes over websites and online stores built by other developers, and keeps your page addresses so you don't lose visitors from Google. The initial review is free, and prices start at €299.

Who it’s for

  • On a phone, your website shows as a shrunken desktop version: you have to pinch to zoom to read the text, and the menu and buttons are too small.
  • Pages load slowly, and PageSpeed Insights shows poor scores, especially on mobile.
  • Your admin area keeps showing notices about an outdated WordPress, Joomla or PHP version, and some plugins can no longer be updated.
  • Your website was built by another company or a former employee, there is no documentation left, and making changes feels risky.
  • Your website's structure and texts still work, but the design looks dated next to your competitors' websites.
  • The browser shows a "Not secure" warning because there is no SSL certificate or it has expired.
  • Your online store runs on an old version of WooCommerce or VirtueMart, and new payment or shipping modules no longer support it.

When it’s not the right fit

  • Your services, structure and design are changing fundamentally. Then it usually makes more sense to build a new website in one of our packages (from €499) and carry over only what is worth keeping.
  • You need to change the odd text or photo. One-off tasks (€30/hour) or a maintenance plan from €29/month will do.
  • Your website is built with a website builder (e.g. Wix) and you want to keep it there. On such a platform, you can only change what its settings allow.
  • Your website is currently infected with malware. It needs cleaning and securing first, and only then updating.

Included

What does a website update include?

Free initial review

Before making a proposal, we review the versions of your CMS, theme, plugins and PHP, loading speed and how the site displays on a phone, free of charge, and then list what is worth changing and what can stay. This is not an SEO audit: a full SEO check is a separate service from €49.

CMS, plugin and PHP updates

We update the WordPress or Joomla core, theme and plugins to supported versions, and replace incompatible plugins. We move old Joomla 3 websites to the latest Joomla version.

Making your website mobile-friendly

We rework the layout, menu, tables and forms so the website works comfortably on phones and tablets: text is readable without zooming, and buttons are easy to tap. If the old theme doesn't allow this, we replace it while keeping your content.

Speed

We convert images to WebP, disable unnecessary plugins and scripts, and enable caching. We measure speed with PageSpeed Insights before and after the work.

Design refresh (redesign)

We update the colours, fonts, headings and the layout of key pages to match your brand, without changing your page addresses or content structure.

Moving to a new CMS or server

We move texts, images and, if needed, users and order history to a new system or host. We set up 301 redirects from old addresses to the new ones.

Online store update

Updating your online store: the WooCommerce or VirtueMart platform, the theme, and payment and shipping module versions. Products, customers and order history stay where they are.

Security

We install an SSL certificate, remove unused admin accounts and plugins, and set up regular backups.

Post-launch checks and a 12-month warranty

After launch, we check forms and links and, if you give us access, indexing errors in Google Search Console reports. For 12 months, we fix any bugs in our work free of charge.

Price

How much does a website update cost?

Price from

€299

A website update costs from €299. We give you the exact price after a free review of your website: it depends on the CMS version, the number of pages and plugins, and whether the design is changing. If the structure, design and services are changing, it usually makes more sense to build a new website – a business website costs from €499, from €899 or from €1,490.

Prices include all taxes – no VAT is added (we are not VAT-registered). The final price depends on the project, and we write it into the contract together with the timeline before work starts.

Get an exact price

What the price depends on

  • How outdated the CMS is: a minor version update, or a jump across several major versions – for example, from Joomla 3 to the latest.
  • Whether the old theme can be made mobile-friendly or needs replacing.
  • The number of pages, products and images that need moving or optimising.
  • Whether the design is changing, and how many page templates need rebuilding.
  • Whether the website has custom features or plugins that are no longer supported by their makers and need replacing or redeveloping.
  • Whether the website needs moving to a different host or a new domain.

Additional costs

  • Hosting from €60/year for a website, from €70/year for an online store. If your current host doesn't support newer PHP versions, we suggest switching.
  • Licences for premium plugins or themes – at their makers' prices, if needed.
  • To stop the website becoming outdated again: maintenance (updates, backups, security) from €29/month; one-off tasks at €30/hour.

Timeline

How long does a website update or mobile-friendly rework take?

A technical update (CMS, plugins, PHP, SSL) takes from 5 working days, a mobile-friendly rework or design refresh 5–15 working days, and a move to a new CMS 10–25 working days. The timeline starts once we receive the deposit and access details.

Process

How it works

  1. Free initial review1–2 working days

We review your website, the CMS and plugin versions, how it displays on a phone and its speed, and tell you free of charge what is worth changing, whether it is better to update or rebuild, what it would cost and how long it would take.

  2. Scope of work and contract1–2 working days

We list what we will update and what stays as it is. The price and timeline go into the contract, and work starts once we receive the 50% deposit and access details.

  3. Backup and test site1 working day

We back up the whole website and database, and carry out the update on a test site so your live website keeps running.

  4. Update3–20 working days

We update the CMS and plugins, fix the mobile layout, optimise speed, refresh the design or migrate the content. You review and approve the interim version.

  5. Launch and redirects1 working day

We move the updated version to your domain. If addresses have changed, we set up 301 redirects and submit a new sitemap in Google Search Console.

  6. Monitoring and warranty12 months

After launch, we monitor errors and indexing. For 12 months, we fix bugs in the work done free of charge, and maintenance is available from €29/month.

Examples

Typical projects

Moving a Joomla 3 website to the latest version

Situation
For example, a manufacturing company's website runs on Joomla 3, which its developers no longer update, and some modules don't work with newer PHP versions.
Solution
We move the website to the latest Joomla version, replace unsupported modules with new ones and make the theme mobile-friendly. Page addresses stay the same.
Result
A secure, supported, mobile-friendly website with the same content and addresses.

Fixing a slow WordPress website

Situation
For example, over several years a service company's WordPress website has accumulated a dozen or so plugins and large images; pages load slowly on phones, and some plugins are no longer updated by anyone.
Solution
We remove unused plugins, replace unsupported ones, convert images to WebP, enable caching and update the PHP version. We measure speed before and after the work.
Result
A faster website, fewer security holes and a clear list of what was changed.

From a website builder to WordPress

Situation
For example, a beauty salon built its website on a website builder a few years ago, but wants better visibility in search and no longer wants to pay a platform subscription.
Solution
We build a new WordPress website and move the texts and photos across; if the domain stays the same, we set up 301 redirects from the old addresses.
Result
A website whose files and database belong to the salon, an admin area in English or Lithuanian, and the option to add new features later.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Yes. We carry out the update on a separate test site, and your live website stays unchanged in the meantime. Once you approve the new version, we move it to your domain, scheduling the switch for when the website has the fewest visitors. For online stores, we also test the order and payment flow before launch.
