Joomla website development, upgrades and maintenance

Who it’s for
- Your website runs on Joomla 3 or 4, which no longer receives updates, and the admin area shows warnings about an outdated system and PHP version.
- Your website was built by another company or a former employee, so you don't know which extensions are still needed and which can be removed.
- You need many different page types and several languages: services, news, a catalogue, plus Lithuanian and English versions. Multilingual support is built into Joomla's core.
- Several people manage the content, and each of them should only see and edit their own section or category.
- You have a VirtueMart online store and want to upgrade it rather than rebuild it on another platform.
- You need a custom module or component: a calculator, a form with conditional logic, a data import or a connection to your own system.
When it’s not the right fit
- You are building a new website and don't mind which system it runs on. In that case, we usually suggest WordPress: it has more plugins and more specialists who know it, and the website costs the same.
- You are planning a new online store. For new stores, we recommend WooCommerce; VirtueMart makes sense when your store already runs on Joomla.
- You need complex business logic, such as customer accounts with calculations or syncing several systems. Then it is more reliable to build it on Laravel.
- Your website is currently hacked or infected. It needs to be cleaned and secured first, and only then upgraded.

Included
What you get
A new website on Joomla 6
We install the latest version of Joomla and a template, adapt it to your brand, and create the menus, categories and pages. You manage the content in the admin area – no developer needed.
Upgrades from Joomla 3, 4 or 5
We move Joomla 3 websites across with a new template and compatible extensions, and upgrade Joomla 4 and 5 websites step by step – through each major version – to Joomla 6.
Extension audit
We list every installed component, module and plugin: which are supported, which need replacing, and which are unused and only add to the security risk.
Custom modules and components
When there is no suitable ready-made extension, we build our own: a calculator, a form with conditional logic, a data import from Excel or a connection to your system via an API.
VirtueMart online stores
We build and upgrade VirtueMart stores: the product catalogue, and the payment and shipping modules. Your products, customers and order history are kept.
Multiple languages and editor permissions
We set up Joomla language versions and user groups: an editor can only write in their own category, and only an administrator can publish.
Security and backups
We turn on two-factor authentication for administrators, remove unnecessary accounts and set up automatic regular backups.
Maintenance and a 12-month warranty
For 12 months, we fix any bugs in our work free of charge. Maintenance from €29/month: Joomla and extension updates, backups and security checks.
Price
How much does a Joomla website cost?
Price from
€499
A new Joomla website costs the same as our other business websites: from €499 (up to 5 pages), from €899 (up to 15 pages with a custom design) or from €1,490 (up to 30 pages, 2 languages). Upgrading an existing Joomla website costs from €299, and we give you the exact price once we have reviewed the site.
Prices include all taxes – no VAT is added (we are not VAT-registered). The final price depends on the project: we put it and the timeline in the contract before work starts.
What the price depends on
- Which version you are upgrading from: moving from Joomla 5 to 6 is usually simpler than jumping from Joomla 3.
- How many extensions are installed and how many are no longer supported – these need to be replaced or rewritten.
- Whether your current template will work in the new version, or a new template is needed.
- The number of pages, languages and VirtueMart products.
- Whether you need custom modules or components.
- Whether the design and site structure are changing at the same time.
Additional costs
- Hosting – from €60/year for a website, from €70/year for an online store. Newer Joomla versions need a newer PHP version, so if your current hosting doesn't support it, we suggest switching hosting.
- Licences for paid extensions and templates – at their developers' prices; they often need renewing for you to keep receiving updates.
- Maintenance – from €29/month; one-off jobs and small changes – €30 per hour.
Timeline
How long does it take to build or upgrade a Joomla website?
A new Joomla website takes 10–25 working days, or from 30 working days with a custom design. Upgrading a Joomla 4 or 5 website takes from 5 working days, and moving from Joomla 3 with a new template takes 10–25 working days. The timeline starts once we have received the deposit and access details.
| Job | What we do | Timeline |

Examples
Typical projects
An unsupported page builder
- Situation
- For example, a service company's Joomla 4 website was built with a page builder whose developer never released an update for newer Joomla versions.
- Solution
- We look at the alternatives and move the pages to a supported builder or to standard Joomla articles, then upgrade the website to Joomla 6. The URLs stay the same.
- Result
- A supported, secure website where content is edited just as before.
A multilingual website with editor permissions
- Situation
- For example, several people update an exporting company's website in Lithuanian and English, and pages belonging to other departments get changed by accident.
- Solution
- We set up user groups: sales managers write news for their own country only, the marketing manager manages all the content, and only the administrator changes menus and settings.
- Result
- Well-organised content in both languages and clear responsibility for who changes what.
Upgrading a VirtueMart store
- Situation
- For example, the payment module in a manufacturer's VirtueMart store is no longer updated, and some customers can't pay for their orders.
- Solution
- We upgrade Joomla and VirtueMart to supported versions, replace the payment module – for example with Paysera or Montonio – and test an order before launch.
- Result
- Working payments, with the product, customer and order history preserved.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Yes, but not in one click. A Joomla 3 site first moves to Joomla 4, and then step by step to 5 and 6. The old template and some extensions don't work in the new versions, so we replace them while keeping your content, menus and URLs. We do all the work on a test copy.
